The Home Brewing Kit That Started An Internationally-Known Brewery
They had a baby and got a homebrewing kit in 2012. Today, Reuben's Brews have been sipped around the world.
This is Adam and Grace, and they had a baby in 2012. His name was Reuben, and through mom Grace he gave his dad a homebrewing kit soon after he was born. Dad found the homebrewing kit fascinating, and the hobby became an obsession in short order.
They began like most craft brewers: they made the beers they wanted to drink. Then, Adam and Grace started making the beers they could no longer find in specialty beer stores. They did some beer research, and looked up older beer styles that are no longer available. And soon, they became known locally for bringing their brews to festivals and events in the area.
When they started getting emails from people asking where they could get the beer, Adam and Grace got an idea: why not open a brewery? Inspired by their son, they named the new company for him.
To date, they've created more than 100 different styles of beer. There are 25 beers on tap at all times, and the taproom is open in Seattle, Washington every day.
Reuben's Brews has expanded three times since it was founded in 2012, and beer production has increased 7 times over. The brewery is in the process of opening a fourth location, and will soon launch a sour beer program.
Beers from Reuben's Brews have won awards at the World Beer Cup and the Great American Beer Festival. It's still a family-run brewery, and it's still being recognized for turning out tasty, original beers.
