This Is Why You Should Be Very Careful Who You Befriend On Facebook

I think that most of you already know the dangers of befriending new people on Facebook. I mean --- it's all good if the person is actually genuinely friendly but the small probability that the person is a crazy a*s psychopath makes it incredibly risky. Two sisters from Dublin learned that the hard way but they are now using their story to warn others.

The two sisters, 21-year-old Amy Rice and 19-year-old Nicole Rice were held hostage and badly beaten during a 20-hour ordeal after meeting up with two men they befriended on Facebook. They were left with severe facial bruises and cuts after the terrifying attack in Newbridge, Ireland, the Belfast Telegraph reports.

The sisters, from Dublin, had been chatting to the two men on the social networking site before agreeing to meet up with them for a drink.

Things took a turn for the worst after the girls were picked up from a bus stop and taken to an apartment.

“They started to get aggressive and my sister got up to leave,” Amy told the Dublin-based Herald.

“They tied us up with rags and put them on our mouths and just kept laughing and laughing as they beat us up,” Amy said.

The men then told the girls they would be let free if they called “someone with money to pay a ransom”, but they were beaten again when they said they didn't know anyone with money.

“They thought it was hilarious, they started ringing this woman and had her on loudspeaker and she kept saying ‘let me hear them scream’,” said Amy.

At one point, Nicole made a run to the corridor outside but she fell down some stairs and passed out at the bottom.

“They thought she was dead and started ringing people on the phone and saying they needed to dig holes in the Wicklow Mountains as they didn’t know what to do with these girls.”

“I was so scared. I thought we were going to die, I was full sure they were going to kill us.”

Amy remembered seeing her sister's body at the bottom of the stairs but she soon blacked out after yet another beating.

Nicole woke up hours later in a bed next to her sister and the two men and as she began to untie her sister, they woke up and the beating began again.

“They started lining us up against the wall and taking pictures and sending to friends what they had done to us. They were really proud of it.”

"They eventually let us go at about 3pm and said if we went to the guards they would kill us and our family."

The sisters, who were covered in blood, ran out of the apartment and flagged down a man who was driving by with two children. He brought them straight to hospital.

The sisters believe they may have been drugged on the night of their ordeal.

The sisters decided to go public with their story to warn others about the dangers of meeting up with “friends” that they've only ever met online.

There are instances where some people actually met the love of their lives through the use of social media but there are instances where people meet their deaths. Anything can happen when you're meeting someone that you never met before. Is it worth the risk? It clearly wasn't for Amy and Nicole.
