This Guy Robbed A Bank—To Get Away From His Wife!

RealClear Staff

Seventy-year-old Lawrence John Ripple walked into Kansas City’s Bank of Labor and quietly handed the teller a note—“I have a gun, give me money.”

Rather than attempting to flee the scene like a typical bank robber, Ripple (money in hand) peacefully walked over to the lobby and sat down.

Upon the authorities arriving, John admitted to the crime and explained he’d rather go to jail than home and deal with his wife. When local news attempted to interview Ripple's wife, all she shared was he became angered over an argument related to a broken dryer.

Ripple was arrested and charged with two felony counts of robbery and aggravated robbery. However, he was ultimately released—but it’s unknown whether or not he went home to his wife.
